What to check when buying a used e-208
- Don't rely on the car's own SoH figure alone: owners report e-208 BMS values that look too high (one 2020 car showed 97% at 100,000 km, which its owner considered implausible) and that change with temperature. One owner's AVILOO PREMIUM test read 94% where the BMS said 96.16%. (Reddit r/peugeot, Reddit r/e208, forum.elektrowoz.pl)
- OBD apps such as Car Scanner only show the BMS value; owners note it is only meaningful after a full calibration charge, and full diagnostics need the Stellantis DiagBox tool – an independent test is the safer option. (Peugeot Forums)
- Within the same model, AVILOO found SoH can differ widely between cars at similar mileage: at 100,000 km the central 99% of tested e-208s ranged from 84.4% to 95.9%. (AVILOO GmbH)
- Peugeot recommends keeping the charge between 20% and 80% day to day and charging to 100% only before long trips – ask how the car was used. (Peugeot UK)
- Compare any test result with the ranges above and with the ADAC rule of thumb: at least 92% at 50,000 km, 88% at 100,000 km, 84% at 150,000 km, 80% at 200,000 km. (ADAC)
Battery warranty (UK)
Peugeot UK: traction battery warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles for 70% of its capacity (Peugeot international: 8 years / 160,000 km, minimum 70%). Confirm the first-registration date and cover for the specific car with Peugeot. Source: Peugeot UK, checked 2026-10-21. Always confirm the terms for the specific car with the manufacturer.

Owner-reported and listing values are single cars (n=1) read from the car, an app or an OBD tool – useful examples, not averages. Range-retention figures (Recurrent) measure range, not capacity. Full details: methodology & all sources.

Model averages can't tell you about the car in front of you. An independent battery test (typically a short OBD plug-in test, some remote) gives an SoH figure and often a certificate you can use when negotiating.
- AVILOO – Independent OBD-based battery test (FLASH / Premium) with certificate; available via partners in the UK and EU.
- Generational – UK remote battery health assessment and certificate, used by dealers and fleets.
