How to check a used Peugeot e-208 or Vauxhall Corsa-e battery before you buy (UK)
Published · Last updated · based on 27 sourced e-208 and Corsa-e data points and 37 sources
The Peugeot e-208 and the Vauxhall Corsa-e (later Corsa Electric) are built on the same Stellantis platform with the same batteries and the same warranty terms. This guide covers how to tell which battery a car has, the UK battery-software recalls, the 8-year warranty, the £50 dealer battery report, and how to compare a result with 19,419 tested cars.
All figures with method and date: used e-208 battery data · used Corsa-e battery data. Going to a viewing? Make a printable list of questions for the seller (e-208, Corsa-e).
1. Identify the battery
| Model | Usable battery | Gross | Cells | Listed (EV Database) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| e-208 | 46.3 kWh (first version) | 50.0 kWh | 216 (108s2p), NMC622 | 2020–2021 listing | EV Database |
| e-208 | 48.1 kWh 51 kWh (MY24) | 51.0 kWh | 96 (96s1p), NMC811 | UK, 2023 – Apr 2025 | EV Database |
| e-208 | 50.8 kWh 54 kWh (MY25) | 54.0 kWh | 102 (102s1p), NMC811 | from Apr 2025 | EV Database |
| e-208 | 46.3 kWh "51 kWh" (MY25) | 50.0 kWh | 216 (108s2p), NMC622 | UK, from May 2025 | EV Database |
| Corsa-e | 46.3 kWh (first version) | 50.0 kWh | 216 (108s2p), NMC622 | UK, to Dec 2021 | EV Database |
| Corsa Electric | 48.1 kWh 51 kWh (MY24) | 51.0 kWh | 96 (96s1p), NMC811 | UK, Jul 2023 – Apr 2025 | EV Database |
| Corsa Electric | 50.8 kWh 54 kWh (MY25) | 54.0 kWh | 102 (102s1p), NMC811 | UK, from May 2025 | EV Database |
| Corsa Electric | 46.3 kWh 50 kWh (MY25) | 50.0 kWh | 216 (108s2p), NMC622 | UK, from May 2025 | EV Database |
EV Database listings, checked 2026-10-30. Each pack was sold in more model years than shown; the table shows one listing per pack and name.
The names are confusing: EV Database lists the 2025 e-208 "51 kWh" with the original 50 kWh pack (46.3 kWh usable, 216 cells), not the 2023 51 kWh pack (48.1 kWh usable, 96 cells). Go by the usable capacity on the advert, the V5C or a dealer report, not the badge. A health figure only means something compared with data for the same battery – and AVILOO's figures below group all packs.
2. Check the recalls
When we downloaded DVSA's recall file on 2026-10-30, it listed these battery and drive-system recalls for the two cars (DVSA). Where a recall covered several models, the number is for the whole campaign:
- R/2023/008 (Corsa Electric) and R/2023/009 (208 Electric), 17 January 2023: an error in the software calibration of the traction battery control unit could cause a loss of propulsion. The software is updated. Corsas built 17 August – 7 December 2022 (3,666 vehicles across Corsa, Mokka and Combo Electric) and 208s built 26 July – 1 December 2022 (1,610 vehicles across four Peugeot models).
- R/2025/119 (Corsa) and R/2025/120 (208), 24 March 2025, "Traction Battery software": an error in the Battery Monitoring Unit software; the BMU software is updated. 864 Corsas built 30 August – 7 December 2022 and 889 208s built 26 July – 30 November 2022.
- R/2022/012 (e-208 and e-2008), 13 January 2022: an over-sensitive open-circuit detection system could cause a sudden loss of power. 1,100 vehicles; e-208s built 3 July 2019 – 26 September 2020.
- R/2022/044 (Corsa-e), 15 February 2022: an intermittent connection in the on-board charger; 450 cars built 8 November 2019 – 30 September 2020.
- R/2023/139 (Corsa-e) and R/2023/140 (208), 9 May 2023: an air-conditioning compressor wiring fault could shut down the powertrain; an ECU is reprogrammed. Large campaigns (34,528 Vauxhall and 29,537 Peugeot vehicles across several models), covering Corsa-e and e-208 cars built from 2019 to late 2022.
- R/2024/175 (Corsa Electric, 265 cars) and R/2024/176 (208, 445 cars), 16 April 2024: Motor Control Unit calibration could cause a loss of propulsion; cars built 11 December 2023 – 21 February 2024.
- R/2022/203 (208 and other models), 13 July 2022: a high-voltage harness may not be to specification; 16 vehicles.
None of these was a battery module or cell replacement. Run the free GOV.UK recall check on the registration (GOV.UK), and ask for proof that any open recall has been done. For the two battery-software recalls, a SoH reading taken before the update may not match one taken after it.
3. Check the battery warranty
Peugeot UK: traction battery warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles for 70% of its capacity (Peugeot international: 8 years / 160,000 km, minimum 70%). Confirm the first-registration date and cover for the specific car with Peugeot. (Peugeot UK, checked 2026-10-30)
Vauxhall UK: 8 years / 100,000 miles battery warranty, transferable, guaranteeing at least 70% charging capacity. Some new cars were sold under Vauxhall's "Electric All-In" offer with at least 80% for the first 3 years from first registration, then 70% (terms seen 2026-10-21; that page now redirects). Check the car's paperwork and confirm with Vauxhall. (Vauxhall UK, checked 2026-10-30)
- Vauxhall's warranty terms say the battery may lose as little as 10% in the first three years and as much as 30% over the rest of the warranty, and that a Vauxhall authorised repairer decides whether the capacity is within the limit for the car's age and mileage; the test can take up to 24 hours (Vauxhall UK).
- A warranty repair or replacement uses a new or factory-reconditioned battery with at least the capacity the original had before it failed – Vauxhall says it may not be "as new" (Vauxhall UK).
- Claims need the service and warranty booklet with the services confirmed, and the terms exclude problems from missed services or unapproved modifications (Vauxhall UK). Ask for the service history.
- Our battery warranty checker works out the time and mileage left (e-208 UK terms: 8 years / 100,000 miles, below 70%; Corsa-e: Standard terms: 8 years / 100,000 miles, below 70%; "Electric All-In" offer cars: first 3 years: below 80%).
4. Get a battery reading
- Dealer report (£50): Peugeot UK and Vauxhall UK say a retailer can produce a Traction Battery State of Health document for £50, with one included free in a Flexcare service plan (Peugeot UK, Vauxhall UK). Ask a private seller whether they have one.
- Approved used: SPOTICAR says every retailer gives a State of Health certificate for the traction battery and includes battery SoH in its 110-point check (SPOTICAR UK).
- OBD apps: OBD apps such as Car Scanner only show the BMS value; owners note it is only meaningful after a full calibration charge, and full diagnostics need the Stellantis DiagBox tool – an independent test is the safer option. (Peugeot Forums) Owner OBD readings vary between apps: one long-term owner logged a steady 90.9% (PKC app) at 100,000 km, while another got a Car Scanner reading of 87% at 66,000 km that he doubted. Owners also note SoH should be read with the cells around 25 °C. (ForumElettrico.it)
- Independent test: AVILOO and other testers measure the battery with their own method (AVILOO GmbH). Options and prices are on our UK battery test comparison.
Treat the car's own figure with care. Don't rely on the car's own SoH figure alone: owners report e-208 BMS values that look too high (one 2020 car showed 97% at 100,000 km, which its owner considered implausible) and that change with temperature. One owner's AVILOO PREMIUM test read 94% where the BMS said 96.16%. (Reddit r/peugeot, Reddit r/e208, forum.elektrowoz.pl) On the 10 UK dealer AVILOO certificates in our data, the car's own (BMS) figure, shown as a whole number, was higher than AVILOO's result on 2, lower on 8 (within 1 point on 2 of them), with gaps from -2.8 to +2.8 points – and one e-208 showed 102.0%. Neither figure is consistently higher, so don't rely on the dashboard or an app alone. Compare like with like, and use how to read a battery health certificate for the fields on a report.
5. Compare the result with what's normal
| Group | Mileage / age | SoH | Sample | Source (date) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e-208 · All battery variants grouped | 50,000 km ≈ 31,069 mi | 94.2% central 99% of cars: 88.2%–97.1% | n=10,902 (all mileages) median, all batteries | AVILOO GmbH (2026-09-03) |
| e-208 · All battery variants grouped | 100,000 km ≈ 62,137 mi | 92.0% central 99% of cars: 84.4%–95.9% | n=10,902 (all mileages) median, all batteries | AVILOO GmbH (2026-09-03) |

| Corsa-e · All battery variants grouped | 50,000 km ≈ 31,069 mi | 94.1% central 99% of cars: 88.2%–97.1% | n=8,517 (all mileages) median, all batteries | AVILOO GmbH (2026-09-03) |
| Corsa-e · All battery variants grouped | 100,000 km ≈ 62,137 mi | 92.0% central 99% of cars: 84.4%–95.9% | n=8,517 (all mileages) median, all batteries | AVILOO GmbH (2026-09-03) |
| Corsa-e · All battery variants grouped | 150,000 km ≈ 93,206 mi | 90.7% central 99% of cars: 81.5%–95.3% | n=8,517 (all mileages) median, all batteries | AVILOO GmbH (2026-09-03) |
AVILOO medians are the middle value of tested cars at that mileage; the band shows where the central 99% of cars fall. We haven't found a published dealer dataset for these two models yet (like the Riddermarks or Carla averages we have for other models), so AVILOO is the only multi-car source here.
- At 150,000 km the central 99% of tested cars ran from 81.5% to 95.4% (e-208) and 81.5% to 95.3% (Corsa-e), so a good average doesn't guarantee a good car.
- Single UK dealer certificates in our data: e-208 90.8%–99.2% (7 cars), Corsa-e 91.1%–94.1% (3 cars). These are single cars, not averages.
- As a rule of thumb for all EVs, ADAC expects at least 92% at 50,000 km, 88% at 100,000 km, 84% at 150,000 km, 80% at 200,000 km (ADAC).
- Peugeot recommends keeping the charge between 20% and 80% day to day and charging to 100% only before long trips – ask how the car was used. (Peugeot UK)
- Compare both with other models on the battery degradation chart, or get a quick estimate with the battery health estimator.

Model averages can't tell you about the car in front of you. An independent battery test (typically a short OBD plug-in test, some remote) gives an SoH figure and often a certificate you can use when negotiating.
- AVILOO – Independent OBD-based battery test (FLASH / Premium) with certificate; available via partners in the UK and EU.
- Generational – UK OBD plug-in test with certificate (SoH, range, remaining warranty, cell balance); sold through dealers and independent mobile testers.
- Moba – Postal OBD kit: you run the test yourself and post the box back for a digital battery certificate (Europe – check vehicle support and delivery country).
Prices change – check the provider's site. Provider names are used for identification only. Compare all UK options and prices: EV battery health check UK.

FAQ
Which battery does my used Peugeot e-208 or Vauxhall Corsa-e have?
EV Database lists three packs for both cars: 50 kWh (46.3 kWh usable, 216 cells, NMC622) from 2020, 51 kWh (48.1 kWh usable, 96 cells, NMC811) from 2023 to spring 2025, and 54 kWh (50.8 kWh usable, 102 cells, NMC811) from 2025. From 2025 the 50 kWh pack was also sold again under new names, so go by the usable capacity or cell count in the paperwork rather than the badge.
What is a good battery health (SoH) for a used e-208 or Corsa-e?
In AVILOO's 2026 report, the median at 100,000 km was 92.0% for the e-208 (10,902 tests) and 92.0% for the Corsa-e (8,517 tests), with the central 99% of cars between about 84.4% and 95.9%. All battery sizes are grouped. A car well below the median at its mileage deserves questions.
Is the e-208 or Corsa-e battery still under warranty in the UK?
Peugeot UK and Vauxhall UK both cover the traction battery for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, for at least 70% of its capacity. Vauxhall says the cover is transferable and runs from the warranty start date, and that its authorised repairer decides whether the capacity is within the limit for the car's age and mileage.
How much does a Peugeot or Vauxhall battery health report cost?
Peugeot UK and Vauxhall UK both say a retailer can produce a Traction Battery State of Health document for £50, and that one is included free with a Flexcare service plan. SPOTICAR, the Stellantis approved-used scheme, says its retailers give a State of Health certificate with every used electric car.
Are there battery recalls on the e-208 or Corsa-e in the UK?
When we downloaded DVSA's recall file on 2026-10-30, it listed battery-software recalls for cars built in the second half of 2022: R/2023/008 and R/2023/009 (traction battery control unit, possible loss of drive) and R/2025/119 and R/2025/120 (Battery Monitoring Unit software). There are also other drive-system recalls. None was a battery module replacement. Run the free GOV.UK recall check on the registration.
