Last updated 2026-10-20
This policy explains how UsedEVBattery (usedevbatteryhealth.com) handles personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018.
Who is responsible (data controller)
UsedEVBattery is run by a sole individual based in Greece. Contact for anything privacy-related: hello@usedevbatteryhealth.com. We will reply within one month.
Summary
- No cookies, no analytics or advertising trackers, no third-party scripts or embeds on this site.
- We only collect what you type into our two forms: email alerts and battery data contributions.
- We never sell your data and never publish your email or other personal data.
1. Email alerts
What: your email address, the model you chose, the time of sign-up, a record that you ticked the consent box, and – for abuse/spam prevention – a one-way pseudonymised hash of your IP address and your browser's user-agent string.
Why and legal basis: to email you when new battery data is added. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR / UK GDPR). The IP hash and user agent are used to prevent abuse on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the forms free of spam (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Double opt-in: after you sign up, our email provider sends a confirmation email. You are only added to the mailing list once you click the link in it. If you never confirm, you will not receive alerts.
Email provider (processor): alerts are sent via MailerLite (MailerLite Limited, Dublin, Ireland), which stores your email, chosen model and subscription status on our behalf under its Data Processing Addendum. MailerLite states that it stores data in the EU (Google Cloud, Netherlands/Germany). MailerLite may record whether emails are opened or links clicked; we use this only in aggregate to see whether alerts are useful.
2. Battery data contributions
What: the car details you submit (model, year, battery size, mileage, SoH, method, measurement date, country, charging type, optional notes), your email only if you choose to give it, the time of submission, and the IP hash and user agent described above.
Why and legal basis: to review your report and use it in our battery health statistics. Legal basis: your consent given with the checkbox on the form (Art. 6(1)(a)); anti-abuse data as above (Art. 6(1)(f)). Your optional email is used only to ask a follow-up question about your report.
What we publish: aggregated figures (e.g. medians per model and mileage band) and, once a model has enough reports, individual anonymised rows limited to model, battery size, year, mileage, SoH, measurement method, country and charging type. We never publish your email, your notes text, the exact measurement date or any IP/browser data. Please don't put names, number plates or VINs in the notes; if you do, we delete them during review. Published owner data is shared under our CC BY 4.0 open-data licence.
3. Where your data is stored
Form submissions (alerts and contributions) are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database (Cloudflare, Inc., acting as our processor; database located in Western Europe). The website itself is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses in its server logs to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare is a US company; transfers outside the UK/EEA are covered by Cloudflare's Data Processing Addendum, which includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK Addendum, and Cloudflare's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. See Cloudflare's DPA and privacy policy.
We do not share your data with anyone else, except where required by law.
4. How long we keep it
- Alert subscribers: for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe or never confirm, we delete your record from our database at our next monthly clean-up. MailerLite keeps the unsubscribed address on a suppression list only so you are not emailed again.
- Contributions: the anonymised car data is kept as long as the dataset is published. The optional email is deleted 12 months after submission (or earlier on request).
- IP hash and user agent: deleted 90 days after the sign-up or submission.
- Emails you send us: kept as long as needed to answer you, and no longer than 2 years.
These deletions run automatically with every new form submission and in a weekly clean-up.
5. Cookies
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or social-media scripts. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
6. Your rights
You have the right to: access the data we hold about you; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to its processing; receive it in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing before withdrawal). Unsubscribe via the link in any email, or email hello@usedevbatteryhealth.com for any request.
You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in Greece the Hellenic Data Protection Authority; or the authority in your own EU country. We'd appreciate the chance to fix things first.
7. Other points
We do not make automated decisions with legal or similar effects about you. Providing data is voluntary; without an email we can't send alerts. This site is not aimed at children under 16. We will post any changes to this policy here with a new date.
