Limited data so far – contribute yours
We have 1 sourced data point for the BYD Seal, all from individual cars (n=1). Single-car results are anecdotes, not typical values. If you own one, sharing your SoH reading (with mileage and how it was measured) helps every buyer.
All data points
| Variant | Mileage | SoH | Type | Sample | Measured by | Source (date) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seal 82.56 kWh (LFP Blade) | 50,559 km ≈ 31,416 mi |
97.9% | Single car | n=1 | AVILOO FLASH Test (independent SoH) | Carma (2026-05-25) Single car (n=1), Australia (hot climate). Certificate shows 77 of 79 kWh energy. |

What to check when buying a used Seal
- Do not confuse the Seal saloon with the Seal U (SUV, incl. DM-i plug-in hybrid) or Sealion 7 – they have different batteries. (AVILOO GmbH)
- Compare any test result with the ranges above and with the ADAC rule of thumb: at least 92% at 50,000 km, 88% at 100,000 km, 84% at 150,000 km, 80% at 200,000 km. (ADAC)
How to check the battery on a used Seal
- Ask the seller to fully charge the car (ideally a full AC charge) before you inspect or test it, so the battery management system can balance the cells – MG, for example, says a full slow charge is the only way for its battery to reach the balanced "equalisation" state. (MG Motor Europe)
- Ask for an independent battery test. AVILOO lists FLASH-test support for the Seal 64 and 82.56 kWh packs shown above, so a dealer certificate or a mobile tester can give an SoH figure you can compare with the results on this page. (AVILOO GmbH)
Battery warranty (UK)
BYD (warranty manual for EEA, UK and Switzerland): power battery 8 years (96 months) or 250,000 km (155,350 miles), whichever comes first, with a minimum of 70% capacity retention (SOH ≥ 70%). Basic vehicle cover 6 years / 150,000 km. Gradual capacity loss above the 70% threshold is not covered. Confirm the terms for the specific car with BYD. Source: BYD, checked 2026-10-20. Always confirm the terms for the specific car with the manufacturer.

Owner-reported and listing values are single cars (n=1) read from the car, an app or an OBD tool – useful examples, not averages. Range-retention figures (Recurrent) measure range, not capacity. Full details: methodology & all sources.

Model averages can't tell you about the car in front of you. An independent battery test (typically a short OBD plug-in test, some remote) gives an SoH figure and often a certificate you can use when negotiating.
- AVILOO – Independent OBD-based battery test (FLASH / Premium) with certificate; available via partners in the UK and EU.
- Generational – UK remote battery health assessment and certificate, used by dealers and fleets.

What battery chemistry does the BYD Seal use?
LFP, BYD Blade prismatic cells (82.5 kWh usable).
How can I check the battery of a specific BYD Seal?
Use an independent battery test (OBD-based or remote) and compare the result with the ranges on this page. Model averages cannot tell you the condition of one specific car.
