How to check a used Peugeot e-2008 or Vauxhall Mokka-e battery (UK)
Published · Last updated · based on 24 sourced e-2008 and Mokka-e data points and 43 sources
The Peugeot e-2008 and Vauxhall Mokka-e are small electric SUVs built on the same Stellantis platform, and most used ones have the same 50 kWh battery as the e-208 and Corsa-e. This guide covers how to tell which battery a car has, the battery recalls, the 8-year warranty, why the car's own battery figure can read over 100%, and how a test result compares with 24 UK dealer certificates.
All figures with method and date: used Peugeot e-2008 battery data · used Vauxhall Mokka-e battery data. Going to a viewing? Make a printable list of questions for the seller.
1. Identify the battery: 50 kWh or 54 kWh

EV Database UK listings. Dates are order dates; cars were registered later.
- A dealer certificate usually prints the pack as "50 kWh" or "54 kWh", and the V5C or the service record gives the build date.
- All the test results on this page are for the 50 kWh pack. The 54 kWh pack uses different (NMC811) cells and we have no results for it yet, so don't compare a 54 kWh car with these figures.
2. Check the recalls
DVSA's recall file (DVSA) lists these recalls for the battery and the electric drive of the two models:
| Recall | Model | Launched | Built | Problem | Remedy |

From DVSA's RecallsFile.csv (downloaded 2026-10-31). Some of these campaigns also cover other Stellantis models, so we don't quote vehicle numbers. The same software recalls appear for the e-208 and Corsa-e: see our e-208 & Corsa-e guide.
- Run the free GOV.UK recall check on the registration (GOV.UK), and ask a Peugeot or Vauxhall retailer to check the VIN for open campaigns.
- Cars built in the second half of 2022 are covered by two battery software recalls each, so ask for invoices or the service record showing both were done.
3. Check the battery warranty
- Peugeot e-2008: Peugeot UK: traction battery warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles for 70% of its capacity (Peugeot international: 8 years / 160,000 km, minimum 70%). Confirm the first-registration date and cover for the specific car with Peugeot. (Peugeot UK, checked 2026-10-30)
- Vauxhall Mokka-e: Vauxhall UK: 8 years / 100,000 miles battery warranty, transferable, guaranteeing at least 70% charging capacity. Some new cars were sold under Vauxhall's "Electric All-In" offer with at least 80% for the first 3 years from first registration, then 70% (terms seen 2026-10-21; that page now redirects). Check the car's paperwork and confirm with Vauxhall. (Vauxhall UK, checked 2026-10-30)
- Vauxhall's warranty terms say a Vauxhall authorised repairer decides whether the capacity is within the proper limit for the car's age and mileage, that a test can take up to 24 hours, and that a claim needs the service booklet with confirmed services. A repaired or replaced battery is new or factory-reconditioned, with at least the capacity the original had before the failure (Vauxhall UK).
- Count the 8 years from the first registration date: the earliest 2020 e-2008s stay covered until 2028. Our battery warranty checker works out the time and mileage left: e-2008 · Mokka-e.
4. Get a battery reading you can trust
On 24 UK AVILOO certificates for the two models, the car's own battery figure (from its battery management system, BMS) was higher than AVILOO's independent result on 10, by up to 4.6 points, and lower on 12, by up to 3.6 points. On 6 certificates the car showed more than 100%. On the highest-mileage e-2008 (45,782 miles) the car read 87.0% against AVILOO's 90.6%. So the car's figure can mislead in either direction.
- Dealer report: Peugeot and Vauxhall retailers offer a traction battery State of Health report for £50, and one is included with a Flexcare service plan (Peugeot UK, Vauxhall UK). SPOTICAR approved used cars come with a battery State of Health certificate (SPOTICAR UK).
- Independent test: an AVILOO battery test (AVILOO GmbH) gives a figure you can compare with the results below. UK options and prices: UK battery test comparison. To read the result: certificate guide.
- Allow for test-to-test spread: one Mokka-e was tested twice, 688 miles apart, reading 97.4% then 96.5% (Car360, Car360). A difference of a point or so isn't meaningful.
5. Compare the result with the same battery
There is no large study for the e-2008 or Mokka-e. AVILOO's 2026 report does cover the e-208 and Corsa-e, which EV Database lists with the same 50 kWh pack. It's a different car, so use it as a rough benchmark (AVILOO GmbH):
| Mileage | Peugeot e-208: median SoH | Vauxhall Corsa-e: median SoH |
|---|---|---|
| 50,000 km (≈31,069 mi) | 94.2% (n=10,902) | 94.1% (n=8,517) |
| 100,000 km (≈62,137 mi) | 92.0% (n=10,902) | 92.0% (n=8,517) |
| 150,000 km (≈93,206 mi) | 90.7% (n=10,902) | 90.7% (n=8,517) |
- e-2008: 13 UK certificates, 90.6%–100.2% at 5,059–45,782 miles. Most of the lower results were on higher-mileage cars: the highest-mileage car read 90.6% at 45,782 miles.
- Mokka-e: 11 UK certificates (10 cars), 94.0%–100.1% at 6,245–25,707 miles.
- Around 50,000 km: the 4 certificates between 40,000 and 60,000 km read 92.5%–97.5%, against the e-208's median of 94.2% at 50,000 km.
- As a rule of thumb for all EVs, ADAC expects at least 92% at 50,000 km, 88% at 100,000 km, 84% at 150,000 km, 80% at 200,000 km (ADAC).
- See all four models on the battery degradation chart, or get a quick estimate with the battery health estimator.

6. Battery replacement cost (UK)
We have not found a verifiable, dated UK price for a new e-2008 or Mokka-e battery, so we don't quote one. Inside 8 years and 100,000 miles a battery below 70% is covered by Peugeot or Vauxhall (Peugeot UK, Vauxhall UK), and recall work is free. For a car near the end of its cover, get a written quote before you buy. General UK figures are in our EV battery replacement cost guide.

Model averages can't tell you about the car in front of you. An independent battery test (typically a short OBD plug-in test, some remote) gives an SoH figure and often a certificate you can use when negotiating.
- AVILOO – Independent OBD-based battery test (FLASH / Premium) with certificate; available via partners in the UK and EU.
- Generational – UK OBD plug-in test with certificate (SoH, range, remaining warranty, cell balance); sold through dealers and independent mobile testers.
- Moba – Postal OBD kit: you run the test yourself and post the box back for a digital battery certificate (Europe – check vehicle support and delivery country).

FAQ
What battery does a used Peugeot e-2008 or Vauxhall Mokka-e have?
Most used cars have the 50 kWh pack (46.3 kWh usable, NMC622, 216 cells) – the same pack specification EV Database lists for the Peugeot e-208 and Vauxhall Corsa-e. EV Database lists it on UK e-2008s ordered July 2020 – July 2025 and Mokka-es ordered April 2021 – January 2024. A 54 kWh pack (50.8 kWh usable, NMC811, 102 cells) came on the e-2008 from July 2023, the Mokka-e 54 kWh in 2024 and the renamed Mokka Electric from November 2024.
What is the e-2008 and Mokka-e battery warranty in the UK?
Peugeot UK and Vauxhall UK both cover the battery for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, for at least 70% of its capacity. Some Mokkas sold new under Vauxhall's "Electric All-In" offer had at least 80% for the first 3 years, then 70%. A Peugeot or Vauxhall retailer can do a battery State of Health report for £50.
Are there battery recalls on the e-2008 and Mokka-e?
Yes. DVSA lists R/2022/012 for e-2008s built November 2019 – September 2020 (an over-sensitive open-circuit detection system that could cause sudden power loss), and traction battery software recalls R/2023/009 and R/2025/120 (e-2008) and R/2023/008 and R/2025/119 (Mokka) for cars built mid to late 2022. Air-conditioning compressor recalls R/2023/140 and R/2023/139 could also shut down the powertrain. Run the GOV.UK recall check and ask for proof the work was done.
What is a good battery health for a used e-2008 or Mokka-e?
There is no large study for these two models. On 24 UK dealer AVILOO certificates (5,059–45,782 miles) we found 90.6%–100.2%. For the same 50 kWh pack in the e-208 and Corsa-e, AVILOO's median is about 94.2% at 50,000 km and 92.0% at 100,000 km, a rough benchmark for these SUVs.
How much does an e-2008 or Mokka-e battery replacement cost in the UK?
We have not found a verifiable, dated UK price for a new e-2008 or Mokka-e battery, so we do not quote one. Inside 8 years and 100,000 miles a battery below 70% is covered by Peugeot or Vauxhall, and recall work is free.
