Used Mercedes-Benz EQB battery health & degradation data
Last updated: · 35 sourced data points
Mercedes' seven-seat-capable electric SUV (series 243, the EQA's sister car), sold in the UK from 2022 to early 2026. The 35 UK dealer AVILOO certificates we found (35 cars, 1,500 to 70,000 miles) ranged from 95.2% to 100.0%: 95.2–99.2% on 23 cars with the 66.5 kWh battery and 97.9–100.0% on 12 EQB 250+ cars with the 70.5 kWh battery. Battery fire-risk recalls of the 250+ (and in the US also the 300/350) mean you should check recall status first. Sources: Car360, [2], [3], [4], EV Database, DVSA, electrive.com.
Battery options: EQB 300 4MATIC and EQB 350 4MATIC (UK listings February 2022 – January 2026): 69.7 kWh nominal / 66.5 kWh usable, 300 cells (100s3p); EQB 250+ (UK listing December 2023 – January 2026): 73.9 kWh nominal / 70.5 kWh usable. Model series 243 (same platform as the EQA); EV Database lists no successor. (EV Database, [2], [3], [4], [5])

Data gaps: No AVILOO median or other large study covers the EQB itself (AVILOO's 2026 report has one for the sister EQA, all battery versions grouped). Every figure here is a single UK car tested by one dealer, at up to 70,000 miles (EQB 250+: up to 32,000 miles); there are no owner-reported readings yet and no published UK battery replacement price.
What to check when buying a used EQB
- Check which battery the car has: the EQB 250+ has the 70.5 kWh battery; the 300 and 350 4MATIC have the 66.5 kWh battery. The UK dealer certificates we found state the usable capacity, not the version. (EV Database, [2])
- Run the GOV.UK recall check and Mercedes-Benz UK's VIN recall check. DVSA's file (downloaded 2026-11-04) lists one EQB battery recall, R/2025/106 (April 2025, 3 EQBs built Sep – Oct 2023, under a campaign mainly for the EQA): fire risk from the high-voltage battery, battery software update, charge to a maximum of 80% until it is done. Other EQB recalls are not battery-related: R/2024/166 (steering software, 7,833 EQBs built Nov 2021 – Jan 2024), R/2023/117 (B-pillar trim) and R/2022/062 (brake caliper bolts, across EQA/EQB). (DVSA, GOV.UK, Mercedes-Benz UK)
- Outside the UK the 70.5 kWh (Farasis-cell) battery is being replaced: Germany's KBA recall 16136R covers EQA 250+ and EQB 250+ built Feb 2021 – Jul 2024 (51,729 cars worldwide; a KBA email reported by electrive says broad replacement in Europe starts in Q4 2026), and the US recall 26V073 covers certain 2023–2024 EQB 250+ and 2022–2024 EQB 300/350 4MATIC with a free battery replacement (park outside, charge to 80% until then). The UK file we checked lists no battery replacement, so ask Mercedes-Benz UK what applies to the VIN, look at the car's charge limit and ask for any recall invoices. (electrive.com, mbpassion.de, heise online, US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mercedes-Benz UK)
- Don't rely on the car's own SoH figure. On the UK AVILOO certificates we found, the EQB's BMS (whole numbers) read up to 0.8 points lower than AVILOO on some cars and up to 7.3 points higher on others; 11 of 12 EQB 250+ cars showed a higher BMS figure (101–103% on nine), and one 66.5 kWh car showed 106% against AVILOO's 98.7%. (Car360, [2], [3])
- One 91,791-mile EQB (66.5 kWh) we found got no SoH at all: AVILOO flagged a potential safety hazard ("safety-concerning anomalies … require immediate inspection") twice, two weeks apart. If an independent test flags a safety risk, don't buy until a Mercedes workshop has inspected the battery. (Car360)
- Check the warranty: Mercedes-Benz UK covers the EQB battery for 8 years or 100,000 miles from first registration (below 70% of rated capacity), so the first 2022 cars are covered until 2030. Ask for the Mercedes service history. (Mercedes-Benz Cars UK)
- Compare any test result with the ranges above and with the ADAC rule of thumb: at least 92% at 50,000 km, 88% at 100,000 km, 84% at 150,000 km, 80% at 200,000 km. (ADAC)
Battery warranty (UK)
Mercedes-Benz UK: EQA/EQB (series 243) high-voltage battery covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km) from first registration, whichever comes sooner; the battery can be replaced in that period if its capacity falls below 70% of the rated capacity. We are not paid by these test providers. How we make money.
Model averages can't tell you about the car in front of you. An independent battery test (typically a short OBD plug-in test, some remote) gives an SoH figure and often a certificate you can use when negotiating.
- AVILOO – Independent OBD-based battery test (FLASH / Premium) with certificate; available via partners in the UK and EU.
- Generational – UK OBD plug-in test with certificate (SoH, range, remaining warranty, cell balance); sold through dealers and independent mobile testers.
- Moba – Postal OBD kit: you run the test yourself and post the box back for a digital battery certificate (Europe – check vehicle support and delivery country).
Prices change – check the provider's site. Provider names are used for identification only. Compare all UK options and prices: EV battery health check UK.

FAQ
What battery health is normal for a used Mercedes-Benz EQB?
Published independent data is limited. The best available figure is 99.2% (single-car report only – see table). See the table for every data point and its source.
What is the Mercedes-Benz EQB battery warranty in the UK?
Mercedes-Benz UK: EQA/EQB (series 243) high-voltage battery covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km) from first registration, whichever comes sooner; the battery can be replaced in that period if its capacity falls below 70% of the rated capacity.
How can I check the battery of a specific Mercedes-Benz EQB?
Use an independent battery test (OBD-based or remote) and compare the result with the ranges on this page. Model averages cannot tell you the condition of one specific car.
